Still Life

Here is 12 items that represent me.
With this we are are answering the questions
      - What visually makes you who you are?
I'm not going to lie this question stumps me. I don't know if this is the right answer or even some what close to what the teacher is looking for, but I don't believe anything visually makes you who are. Yes appearance is a big thing but that doesn't make you who you are that's just what others see from looking at you. I believe who we are is made up of passions and thoughts not what others see.

      - What is the important of appearance?
Appearance is the way the world sees you. How you look shows how different you are from those around you. Some will say appearance doesn't matter and I agree, but first a impression is everything and that usually is based upon your appearance.

      - What object have you chosen to bring in to represent you?
The objects I have chosen to bring in were a Scooby-Doo stuffed animal, temporary license plate, picture of London, a basset hound statue, two parts to a mustang, a CD, key chain, a giant K, sunglasses, snow globe, and army hat.

      - How are each of these object significant to part of your identity?
The Scooby-Doo stuffed animal is significant to me because I grew up with the TV show and loved it. Because of the show I know what I would like to be in life. Also I had a dog named Scooby-Doo for 12 years. The temporary licences plate was the very first drive out tag I ever had. Driving is a important thing to me and I love my first car to death. The picture of London is significant because I've always loved London. I went there when I was little and ever since than I have wanted to go back. The picture is also in a hot pink frame because hot pink is one of my favorite colors. So favorite color favorite place all in one. Like I said before I had a dog for 12 years, he was a basset hound so hint the basset hound state thing. In here there are two parts to a 1967 Ford Mustang convertible. At the moment my father and I are redoing one and these are some parts that haven't been replaced yet. The CD is one of my favorites. I am country girl, I am from Tennessee and I have always and a thing for country music. The key chain say class of 2013 and so you can probably guess I am in the graduating class of 2013. The giant K hanging in my room and reminds me how I got my name. It may sound silly, but my name starts with a K because my father and my brother share the name Kevin. So my mother wanted to keep with the K thing and named me Kristina. It is a little weird, but I love knowing I was named that for a reason, that my parents just didn't pick a random name. Next is my sunglasses....I have had these glasses since freshman year and they are just me! People all the time tell me I saw you this weekend, but I didn't really know it was you till I saw your sunglasses. The snow globe is one of my 30 from all over the world. I lived in Germany for about 4 years and in that time we traveled all over the world. With each place we went I bought a snow globe, so now I have a huge collection of about 30 or so. Lastly is the army hat, my father was in the army for over 20 years. This specific hat he had while he was down range in Iraq. But the hat does not just remind me of sadness and fear, but it reminds me of the best day of my life, the day he came home. It was a week before Christmas and we were told he would not be home till at least February missing the second Christmas in a row. But on December 22 my mom got a call form some lady telling us to be at Fort Carson the next day our soldiers were coming home. I will admit I am a daddy's girl and the day he came home he gave me that hat and I will never forget that.

      - How have you chosen to  arrange/light photograph these objects? Why?
I did not really arrange them in any specific order. I just randomly placed them around hoping for a good look. Same with the light I just put on one side hoping for a few shadows and a good combination or light and dark.

      - Is there a significance to the fabric you brought in if so what?
Yes the fabric behind all my objects in my baby blanket. Well kind of. When I was born my grandmother started to make me a blanket with a cross stitching technique, but she didn't really finish till I was about 13.
